We Must Remember: The POW/MIA Flag

This flag is a remembrance flag in honor of Americans who have been Prisoners of War (POWs) or have gone Missing in Action (MIA). This is for us to remember their sacrifice. There is a location on a monument wall in the Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in Washington, D.C.. There are over 58,000 names of soldiers that had perished in the war with 12,000 of those representing POWs and MIAs.

We have six specific days when it is appropriate to fly the flag:

  1. Armed Forces Day (3rd Saturday in May)

  2. Memorial Day (Last Monday of May)

  3. Flag Day (June 14th)

  4. Independence Day (July 4th)

  5. National POW/MIA (3rd Friday in September)

  6. Veterans Day (November 11th)

Remember that freedom is never free. It is very costly to establish and maintain. We owe them our deepest gratitude to be experiencing such luxury in this era. The least we can do is sincerely appreciate and defend their efforts.

What do you plan to do to honor those who died for your freedom?
