About Us

Walking the Creative Path Together
On Our Trail is the collaborative work of Michelle and John — artists, designers, makers, and emerging creative educators committed to intentional craftsmanship and meaningful creative practice.
Our work lives at the intersection of art, reflection, and process. We believe creativity is more than a finished product — it is a way of understanding ourselves, engaging the world around us, and expressing what matters most.
Through handmade paper, book arts, visual design, mixed media, and thoughtful experimentation, we create work that invites curiosity and honors the story behind the making.
What We Believe About Creativity
We serve those who:
-
Want to create as a way of discovering more about themselves
-
Long to use art as a therapeutic and reflective process
-
Desire to express their faith and gratitude through intentional making
We believe creativity can be formative — shaping not only what we make, but who we become in the process.
Art can be:
-
A mirror
-
A tool for healing
-
A form of praise
-
A disciplined craft
We approach our work with both technical skill and thoughtful intention, honoring the materials, the process, and the person engaging with it.
Our work is deeply rooted in our faith. For many years, our lives were marked by profound crisis that reshaped everything we understood about survival, hope, and purpose. We believe it was by the grace of God that our lives were preserved and restored. That grace is not a background detail of our story — it is the foundation beneath our work.
Creativity, for us, is not separate from gratitude. It is a response to mercy. It is a way of honoring the One who sustained us and continues to lead us forward.
Our Direction
On Our Trail is growing into more than a studio practice.
While we currently create and sell artwork and develop independent projects, we are intentionally building toward a teaching platform and creative community centered around workshops, classes, and guided creative experiences.
We are especially passionate about creating spaces where people can:
-
Explore their creativity with curiosity instead of pressure
-
Use art as a reflective and restorative practice
-
Integrate faith and creativity in meaningful ways
Our hope is to cultivate a community where creative work is both skillfully developed and personally transformative.
Why “On Our Trail”
The name reflects movement — a journey rather than a destination.
Creativity is not a destination — it is a path. It is layered, evolving, and sometimes winding. Each body of work, each experiment, each lesson learned becomes part of the trail we are walking.
We are continually learning, refining, experimenting, and growing. Creativity unfolds over time, shaped by experience, discipline, faith, and curiosity.
On Our Trail represents both our shared path and the invitation for others to walk theirs.
We do not create from a place of arrival.
We create as fellow travelers.
