"BEETLE" Framed Papercut Stamp Art
Beetle 8"x10" framed papercut artwork
Kept as pets and used as jewelry in ancient times, Beetles are known for their hardened front wings that fold down as an armor known as elytra. These armored wings serve as both escape and defense, allowing Beetles to become the largest order of living things on earth, with over 400,000 described species and an estimated million of total species worldwide! Found almost everywhere besides the ocean and the Arctic, these bugs are specialists able to adapt to their environment. With abilities ranging from boiling acid spray to becoming living glow sticks, Beetles love overcoming challenge around them in creative ways. If you keep an eye on the ground, chances are good that you'll find a Beetle neighbor living within a few steps from your front door.
Part of the USA Postage Stamps Papercut Collection by John Miller a set of 12 papercut artworks celebrating USA postage stamps. This set of artwork was created by John Miller to bring attention to the USA postage stamps. Inspired by Tracy Walker's "Baby Wild Animals" set, John made a set of twelve designs, cutting sheets of paper by hand with an X-Acto knife. Once the initial set was completed, the designs were digitized and turned into cut files used for the final versions. Each 8"x10" artwork is built up of four to five layers of acid free, fade resistant papers cut and assembled with care by the artist. Cut with a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine, glued with Tombow Mono Aqua, and framed with lightweight acrylic, each piece is ready to hang.
