"BABY BLUE" Framed Papercut Stamp Art
Baby Blue 8"x10" framed papercut artwork
This blue ox was saved by Paul Bunyan during the winter of The Blue Snow. Paul took pity on Baby Blue due to his vibrant blue color, taking him in and giving him a helping serving of flapjacks with maple syrup. Although initially small and weak, Baby Blue grew quickly, outpacing the oxen around him as he towered over the pine trees. Baby Blue quickly grew into his role at the lumber camp, pulling out trees, and straightening out anything with two ends on it. As the story goes, Paul and Baby Blue were logging deep into Wisconsin following the winding river and sending their freshly chopped logs floating down to Saint Louis. The river had gotten so tangled up that the huge logs were getting stuck in the bends and clogging up the river. Seeing the problem, Paul harnessed Baby Blue and had him pull the river straight, ending up with enough river leftover to make Lake Wissota.
Part of the USA Postage Stamps Papercut Collection by John Miller a set of 12 papercut artworks celebrating USA postage stamps. This set of artwork was created by John Miller to bring attention to the USA postage stamps. Inspired by Tracy Walker's "Baby Wild Animals" set, John made a set of twelve designs, cutting sheets of paper by hand with an X-Acto knife. Once the initial set was completed, the designs were digitized and turned into cut files used for the final versions. Each 8"x10" artwork is built up of four to five layers of acid free, fade resistant papers cut and assembled with care by the artist. Cut with a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine, glued with Tombow Mono Aqua, and framed with lightweight acrylic, each piece is ready to hang.
