Merge Mayor

Newest Update: 11/02/2025

I'm still obsessed with this game but have had to make some adjustments in my playing style. So I am updating this page since some rules must be followed, or be removed without warning.

I am onourtraildotcom or OOT who is the president of the OnOurTrail.com club.

I also tend to use my husbands account, msgchicken, often. So when his account posts something of authority, please pay attention.

A Club is meant for TEAMWORK over the course of 2 or 3 month dedication. If you are not going to be playing at least 3 times a day on the regular, then this group is not for you. We can be lenient when life arises, but your general pattern should be about 3-5 times per day.

Again, this is a COMPETITION involving 20 different people over the course of usually 60-90 days.

So each individual must be able to pull their weight as often as possible.

If you are going to be away for more than a day, please inform us of when you will leave and when you'll be expected back. We can work around you if we know when we may need to pick up.

If you are gone longer than 3 days without any notice, you will be automatically removed.

->If there was an emergency and something occurred that kept you from being able to let us know you can still be welcomed back. Just message us at OnOurTrail@gmail.com to let us know generally what happened and that you are ready to be back. No need for specifics, just "health" or "family" issues is enough if you don't wish to divulge.

If both I, OOT, and msgchicken are gone for more than 3 days minimum, just a heads up we may have been in the hospital with no access to our phones. This shouldn't happen but always could since it has many times before.

-----

For those who have just joined or are considering joining, we have some general requirements to get in and specific participation requirements to stay. No one is allowed to coast through the first 10 levels. If you need to be away from the game for a valid reason, you must have shown effort both before and after your stated period of absence. The rest of the group has to pick up the slack, adjusting their own schedules, so be mindful of your contributions—or lack thereof—if something comes up.

We understand that life happens. Don’t worry—we won’t kick you out just because you planned a cruise last year and won’t have access for a week. We only ask that you communicate respectfully and keep everyone in the loop.

General Information

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Level Requirement

  • Level 100 required to be accepted in.

Minimum Effort to Stay In

Each round that lasts at least 24 hours requires:

  • At least 3 Green Marks

  • 1/20th of total sandwhiches required

  • Or placement within the Top 5 contributors of sandwiches

  • Participate 3-5 times a day on average

If a roll call is initiated, you will have a set amount of time to respond before consequences are enforced (unless you notify us beforehand). For votes, you typically have 24-48 hours to participate.

Participation in votes and input requests is optional, but if you choose not to contribute during discussions, you must abide by the decision made by those who did.

Frequent Communication

"Frequent" depends on the situation:

  • Planned Absences: If you will be away due to a medical procedure, vacation with no cell service, or a study period before finals, post the dates you'll be gone, your expected return, and then confirm when you're back.

  • Emergency Situations: If an emergency (e.g., a natural disaster) prevents you from notifying us in advance, message us as soon as possible through:

    • The chat button on our website

    • Email: onourtrail@gmail.com

    • Our club chat on MergeMayor's Discord
Keeping us updated every 2-3 days is ideal, especially during the first 10 levels of the wonder build, when timing is critical.
(I do not check this often, you may have to inform someone to let me know)

How We Evaluate Patience & Exceptions

Our flexibility is based on recognizing your:

  1. Task contributions in each round

  2. Sandwich contributions in each round

  3. Activation for backup during countdowns

  4. Communication with others in chat

These are the key factors I personally consider when deciding how long to wait.

Notes About Rounds & Life

[Leniency]

We understand that life gets busy, and we are not asking you to sacrifice your personal life for a game. However, if you do not have the lifestyle to keep up with this level of commitment, this is not the group for you. Our team operates in two to three-month periods of dedication.

End of Each Wonder:

Our goal is to make to number 25 before it concludes.

Start of the Next Wonder Build:

  • Date: November 9th, 2025

  • Time Zone: Colorado, USA (MST)

  • Duration: Unknown Ending Period

We are aiming for a top 10 placement at the very beginning, which means every member must log in at least THREE times a day on average.

You will be "assigned" positions based on your lifestyle, workload, and acceptable stress level. Some players prefer a supportive role, while others want to push forward aggressively. We need both, but communication is KEY.

Mandatory Communication

🚨 EVERYONE MUST COMMUNICATE AND POST IN CHAT WEEKLY.

  • Missing a week of chat activity during the first 10 rounds will result in automatic removal (unless you have given prior notice or a follow-up message).

  • I need to see some record of you checking chat logs, participating in discussions, or responding to roll calls.

Timing

[Different Time Zones]

There is a countdown round that uses energy to lower the timer.

  • ONE energy from a generator that requires energy reduces the timer by 25 SECONDS.

  • A Boost (costs 600 Social Coins per 30-minute boost) reduces the timer by 50 SECONDS.

  • Gems cost 25 gems per 1 hour of activation (this may need verification).

Timing is Crucial

Due to the short window for double points, activation timing is critical. Our goal is to maximize the impact of each 100-energy refill, effectively doubling its value in half the time.

To achieve this, we may track players’ time zones and their most active play periods. Support players will focus on activating "Call for Backup" when others are online and playing.

You can check if someone is actively participating by watching the countdown page—small energy animations will appear as the timer ticks down. Activate ASAP when you see this as support!

For Players Who Want to Push Forward

Whenever an activation starts—and if you have time—use as much energy as possible before the activation ends. We want to take advantage of every activation window.

Example Time Zone Breakdown

For example:

  • OnOurTrail (OOT) and msgchicken are in Colorado, USA (MST).

  • Due to insomnia and health issues, they are often active at random times but typically play:

    • 3-5 AM MST

    • 11 PM MST

    • At least three additional times during the day.

  • OOT plays every 2.5 hours to allow for generator and energy recharges.

    • If an appointment overlaps with a scheduled playtime, OOT may play right before the appointment to extend the timer further or may have to wait until after.

  • <<This will change to specific days or days when we are free. Not able to do this as the norm yet.>>

Your Playtime Availability

To help with coordination, simply state your time zone and the hours you are definitely unavailable (e.g., during sleep, work meetings, etc.).

Those who are willing to use their social coins and/or gems to extend the call for backup, please see which of the Attackers* are around your time-zone to activate and play then. Then Attackers can focus their coins and gems on completing tasks, sandwhiches, and speeding up the countdown.

Send Energy to Group

[Want to Optimize]

Every 12 hours, you can send out your vehicle to travel around other towns. There is also an option to send 25 energy to everyone on your team for 75 Gems.

We encourage players to stay active and take advantage of these bonus energy gifts as much as possible!

Plan Ahead

[Round Prep]

Addressing Previous Issues & Optimizing Strategy

In previous rounds, some members did not check the chat or submission page to see who had claimed what, leading to certain players’ efforts being ignored. Unfortunately, these members also did not receive an apology, which understandably made some take it personally. I want to reduce these instances and encourage better communication when errors occur.

Additionally, the majority of social coins earned from submissions should go to active players who are committed to helping the team get in the top 10.

Phases of Every Wonder Build Level

1️⃣ Build Phase – Players submit task items and sandwiches to complete the level.

  • Task items are shared across the entire club.

  • Sandwiches are personal and only visible to you.

  • Each person must aim to complete 1/20th of the total sandwiches per round.

  • Do not work on your personal quests if possible during this period.

2️⃣ Countdown Phase – Every energy used during this phase reduces the countdown timer by 25 seconds.

  • "Call for Backup" doubles the time reduction.

  • Best time to work towards one of your town quests or personal competitions.

  • If we have a list for the next round, please start working on collecting those items!

Preparation & Strategy

Our group will have someone post the upcoming task items at the start of the countdown phase. This gives everyone time to stock up on the right items based on their role:

Support vs. *Attackers: Roles & Strategy

To optimize our Wonder Build, we will divide efforts into two key roles: Support and Attackers. Each role has a different focus to ensure the team progresses efficiently.

🔹 Support Players (Efficiency & Assistance)

Support players prioritize stockpiling large-quantity task items and ensuring the team has what it needs to complete each round smoothly. Their focus is on filling bulk requirements rather than targeting high-value submissions.

  • Example: If a round requires 10 Telehandlers, 110 Donuts, 15 Bookshelves, and 143 Watering Cans, Support players aim to gather and submit Donuts and Watering Cans while avoiding intentional competition for high-value items.

  • Exception: If a Support player naturally collects a high-value item while stockpiling other materials, they can notify the team in chat before submitting it.

Additional Responsibilities:
✔️ Activating "Call for Backup" when they notice teammates using energy.
✔️ Ensuring social coins go to players who actively contribute. (i.e. don't snipe items intentionally)

🔸 Attacker Players (Aggressive Progression & Ranking Push)

Attacker players focus on high-value task items and accelerating the team’s progress. They are the most active players, frequently checking in and using energy to maintain momentum.

  • Example: In the same round (10 Telehandlers, 110 Donuts, 15 Bookshelves, 143 Watering Cans), Attackers focus on Telehandlers and Bookshelves while also collecting smaller items as needed.

  • Attackers are responsible for maximizing energy use and responding quickly when "Call for Backup" is activated.

Additional Responsibilities:
✔️ Stockpiling social coins to help the team push forward in rankings.
✔️ Optimizing task completion by using energy effectively and coordinating with teammates.

Both Support and Attackers must focus on sandwich quests to meet team goals. By working together and playing to each role’s strengths, we can maximize efficiency and reach our ranking targets. 🚀

Mandatory Focus: Sandwiches

✅ Each player must contribute 1/20th of the total sandwich goal.

  • To calculate your goal: Remove the last digit from the total, then divide by two.

  • This ensures everyone does their part while keeping contributions reasonable.

  • Best way to accomplish your sandwhiches is to make sure you are on every morning when it refreshes to do the easiest ones right away. You should be using up 400 energy to get those two sandwhiches DAILY.

🚨 When to Skip a Sandwich Quest for the Day:

  1. If the cost to complete the quest is too high (e.g., Quest 1 is “2 Road Rollers & 1 Bed” vs. Quest 2 is “3 Flowering Plants & a Harp”).

  2. If you won’t be able to complete any before the refresh.

After submitting stocked-up items during Countdown Phase, focus entirely on sandwiches until you hit a reason above to stop sandwhiches for the day.

✨ Pro Tip: If your sandwich quest overlaps with task item collection (e.g., collecting a Mobile Coffee Station also generates extra Donuts for submission), you can always submit those while working towards your goal.

Your Response

[Reply Back]

Now that I’ve covered (I think) everything, we have time to make adjustments and decide whether we will all continue during the next build. This is a great time to test the strategies mentioned if you’re aiming to be part of the Top 10 push in the next build. We can still discuss and make changes up until the final week.

For now, during this phase, the general rules still apply:
✔️ Be respectful in communication and keep everyone updated.
✔️ Aim for 1/20th of the total sandwiches—this is everyone’s fair portion. Whether or not you hit that number will depend on the extra efforts of others, but you should always strive for it.

Since we are all at least Level 100, hitting 3-5 green marks should be the minimum. No one should finish a round with fewer than 3 green marks. I will have to bring this back because we have seen slippage.

This Rule has been in effect since Level 18th of The Eiffel Tower Wonder in March 2025

After reading everything, please comment in the MergeMayor chat with your comments, concerns or any additions. If you start playing, I will take that as an acceptance to our rules stated here.

As of November 2nd, 2025-

I will take another roll-call response if this set of rules/guidelines is acceptable.

Once posted this update has been published in Chat, you have 72 hours to respond:

(Y) Yes, you will follow (ask any clarifying or follow up questions before saying Yes)

(N) No, I cannot keep up with that (you can either choose to leave or I will remove you once this current wonder is complete)

You can respond with your answer and go over changes or your inputs....or ask for more details and then respond. But your response will be needed within 72 hours. Outside of that may be forcibly removed. You should always be checking chat at least once every day or two anyway.

**keep in mind life changes, so if you suddenly can't follow through, you can always retract your response later. This is not set in stone, just more of taking note of participants and what possibly to expect.

If you ever want to return and can keep up, feel free to message us again. We can try to get you in once we have an open slot.

No I'm not that obsessed...

I just really like to go into brainstorming and fleshing out ideas by organizing them visually.

If you have anything that needs to be changed/updated/added just let me know in the chat!
